Career in Medicine

The term is derived from the Latin ars medicina meaning the art of healing. The modern practice of medicine occurs at the many interfaces between the art of healing and various sciences. It is one of the most sorts out and rewarding career for those interested in Science. Medical studies have become so vast that specializations are increasing day by day. There is also Super Specializations which require a further 3 to 5 years of study in areas such as Plastic Surgery, Neurosurgery, and Cardio-thoracic surgery, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology and Clinical Hematology Pediatric Surgery etc;



The major Specializations include General Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat), Psychiatry, Anesthesiology etc.



A doctor's profession is a very demanding and being in this profession is more of a responsibility than a privilege. It is more of what you can give to the community by way of curing the sick.
Other than Allopathy, alternative medicine such as Homeopathy, Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani etc.are also becoming popular primarily because of their lack of side effects.



Eligibility: MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) which is of 5 1/2 years duration (including 1 year internship) is essential but one has to go in for specializations also.
